Photos from my exhibition; Part Party

I've been working with form-cut laughters for some time now - but it's just recently that I feel like I've started to find the way to use them properly. I've felt that I wanted to work with the 2-dimensionel drawing in the 3-dimensionel space ... but not really known how to ...

My just terminated exhibition at "Bageriet" was a way to try some of my solutions out with an audience. I call this hanging figure-group "Party Party". They swirl around in space and their sometimes distinct shadows dance on the wall. Different light conditions create changes in expression and the figures have different colours on both sides.

Pastries, Balloons and Laughter

Right now I have a small exhibit at Bageriet (= the bakery) at Konstepidemin where I show my recent and ongoing work with laughter, balloons and the colour pink (a colour I dislike very much). I share the playful connections that appear in my studio and the importance of process for my work. 

As the gallery is called the Bakery I just had to offer the visitors pink pastries as part of the experience ...

new moo business cards

For years now I've made a new set of moo business cards for every new exhibition. I've been printing some of the art pieces in the exhibition on one side of the cards (and my contact info on the other, of course) - like a selected mini version of the exhibit ... as you can print many different motives in the same batch with moo. Another reason is that the quality of the moo business cards is great. (no, I'm not being sponsored by them!). I'm a bit extra sensitive to the printing quality as I work a lot in my art with pinkish and yellow tones that can get really "wrong" in print.

Anyhow; this time it turned out to be even better - they've just started offering square business cards! All my screen prints for my up-coming exhibition To Do [Laugh] are squarish so I had thought this would be rather tricky - but now it was just perfect instead. In addition screen prints are very suitable for reproduction ... so my new little business cards look just like mini-versions of my prints! I'm very happy about this; I can easily try different combinations for hanging the exhibition. Let's just hope now that my artist colleagues won't pinch them all at the opening ...

Today we read from our children books at Röda Sten Konsthall. We got the perfect fairy tale ambiance in the lounge with that easy chair and lamp. Thanks Angelica for arranging it in such a great way (and I don't just mean the chair and the lamp)! It is special to read your story aloud and feel the reactions to it all (text and images). I felt closer to my story again. I haven't gotten around to send my book to any editors yet, but I've reworked some parts. And I set a deadline for putting the book in the mail to five editing houses. And that deadline is approaching... It's on Tuesday!

Exhibit again on Sunday!

On Sunday I will participate in a one day children's book exhibit at Röda Sten Konsthall. At 13:00 we'll be reading from our books. (yes, that's my feet in the photo. I like bigger format!)

Tombola Parksalong

On Saturday 15:00-19:00 I'm participating in  "Tombola Parksalong" - a temporary art event in Slottskogen here in Gothenburg. Welcome!

I went to the opening of "Samtidigt" ("at the same time" or "simultaneously") a joint exhibition by Camilla Engman and Helena Roos. It was a perfect warm summery Saturday - and to enter the exhibition was like coming to another universe - dark and colorless - in the old boiler room at Konstepidemin (serving as not-at-all-white-cube-exhibition-room).

Yesterday there was a review of my exhibition in Borås Tidning. A review that I'm very happy about! ... and just some minor things that weren't really correct - or misunderstandings; I might not have been as clear about things as I thought (?) (what you might wonder? The ex-Beatle Paul MacCartNEy hasn't had any influence on my art - I mentioned though that an art critique had compared how I treated a subject to Paul MacCarthy... And the only one I've consciously glanced at while painting is Bacon. Saville/Freud are good painters though. And - yes, I've put money aside to be able to put together this exhibition as I've worked for it for two years - being an investment that can't pay off until exhibited - but I wouldn't say I've used my savings ... haven't had any savings the last 10 years making a living as an artist. This said - probably just me who cared or noticed. The important thing after all is that I felt this journalist understood my paintings!)

Friday night we had the opening - and the only 3 hours out-door exhibition - presenting the results from the summer course I've been teaching ("Big format screen printing and its spatial possibilities"). Below some glimpses from the exhibition and the fantastic weather conditions.
