Today - before we test hanged my student's exhibition - I managed to get the time to prepare a screen printing frame for a playful print experiment. Hopefully I'll get the time to test print it tomorrow before lunch. Then we have the exhibition - and it will be great!

Welcome to exhibition X

Poster by Salla and Astrid On Friday my screen printing students will present their work in an Exhibition we call X (marking the spot as it is a site specific exhibition). The exhibition will be open at 17:00-20:00, in the ruins after Älvsborgs Fästning (a fort) - if you can make it you are very welcome! (If not I'll post some photos here for you to see) ... my feet are sore and I am totally wasted. These are long and busy days for me ...

for me it's about noticing

For me photography is about noticing things. Like when teaching my screen printing course these two weeks - and noticing magic temporary side effects. Like how it looks on the plastic for fitting the prints - in the moment of cleaning...

Teaching screen printing courses at a higher level is a splendid way to learn so much more about what is possible, how you can think, different materials to print on. When you only work on your own stuff you don't get this variety in thinking! (above students' works in progress).

A period of two weeks intense screen printing with my students has started. Already today the best of photo opportunities, but I can not catch it all ... I am supposed to teach, you know.

exhibition: Bill Viola at the Watercolour museum

The video artist Bill Viola works with water in such a pure, beautiful and simplistic way. Simplistic no meaning banal in any way - but clear and essential. These photos don't make the video installations any justice - not even as still images. But maybe, maybe you can imagine anyway? If you have the possibility you should try to see Viola's work in person! I loved seeing his work "for real" for the first time. It's pure poetry!

excursion; Skärhamn (and the watercolour museum)

I've made myself a promise: enjoy life more, every day. (varje dag= every day) Today: excursion to the Watercolour museum in Skärhamn. Last year in May I spent a week in one of the guest studios. Tomorrow I'll post some photos from the exhibition (Bill Viola)

Back in the studio again, but just for two days. I missed a full week of studio work curing my tonsillitis and this week the screen printing course I'm teaching restarts. I have a very busy autumn ahead of me and I will therefor be less ambitious here and mostly just keep my blog as a creative diary.  (follow me on Instagram: alexandrahedberg)

... this is where I happily left in the middle yesterday, to continue today. But NO, I'm ill today, feeling totally miserable; tonsillitis ...

back to work

Today I returned to my studio after 4 weeks of vacation. In my not very clean studio sink I discovered a sprout growing ... absolutely magic. This is the second time it happens in my studio - could it be a message?
I've barely even checked my mail on my time off, not touched the computer and not thought about the autumn at all. Just spend time with my family - and reading Murakami. Today I was very happy to be creative in my studio again, but feeling very reluctant to do anything administrative or any paper work ....

(I've gotten hooked on Instagram during vacation, though)
