inventory

Tomorrow I'll be moving all my supplies and so on to my new studio. The studio won't be ready for working there until mid August, but storage is possible from now. So I'll make my mother happy - she has let me temporarily store "my studio" in her attic - and do this NOW. (I'm keeping some material for working over summer though)

Today I'm doing some inventory and getting rid of old stuff. Some of the things have been with me since 1993 and my first studio ... I've just kept moving them to the next studio and the next one... without touching it in between. Be gone unnecessary things and lousy old art pieces!

it's good that my husband doesn't read your blog! he would start screaming and telling you to never ever throw your art pieces away. what a pity, he would say, to put them in the garbage. you made those!
and sometimes he is right. but most of the time he doesn't know that even the best artists make trash sometimes : )
and one only has so much storage...
but alexandra! do be careful not to get rid of too much.

ha, ha... kristi's comment made me laugh. My husband also thinks that everything I do I should keep. On the contrary, I'm willing to get rid of things I haven't used, touched or needed in the last couple of years. Yes, be careful to do the right choices...

Don't worry Kristi. I never get rid of too much (a little secret: some things that are so-so are being secretly stored in my mother's attic ... she doesn't know. Unless she reads this!).

I normally take a second look at things after some years. And then take a decision. But as I've worked with art for so many years it's very important not to keep all sketches and so-so paintings. Some I paint over though ... or cut up and use in another way. Others are just hopeless cases: goodbye!

Ha! Lots of stuff you have there! Must be nice to clean out a little and move in a new space :)

What fun lies ahead of you. I love those opportunities to clean up, to re-organise, to re-assess.

Wow, good luck with the new studio Alexandra! I'm sure it will bring lots of inspiration for years to come. :)

det känns lika viktigt att kunna rensa och slänga som att kunna behålla, men det är svårt. jag spar varenda liten skiss just nu, för jag tänker att den ska jag jobba vidare på. men sen glömmer jag bara av dem ändå...

Hello light feeling of de-clutter. Der frigives god energi ved oprydning, synes jeg. God arbejdslyst :-)
