not a good studio day

I sucked big time in the studio today. I don't know what I was trying to achieve - but the painting was not only not good - it was really bad. No talent, no skills ... have I just been lucky the other times?

So I post a sketch made for a playful project instead.

i love that the cutout shape expresses the same feeling you had about your studio day. he/she looks just a bit dejected. best of luck tomorrow!

Yes, I recognize that feeling, that day, all too well. It struck me yesterday as I was making a handful of new zines before me. Looking at them with my collages on postcards en masse I thought they looked like utter rubbish. When that happens, if I cannot keep on regardless, I pack up and do something else.

Hope your next day in the studio is more uplifting.

The bad day is a day or two or so before something wonderful happens. I meet this in rehearsals time and time again. Days that suck are preludes to a break-through. Loosen up, get some fresh air, some exercise, a good night's sleep and tomorrow return to the fray in full faith.
