found in the basement 3

THE PIFCO MASSAGER

not only does it come in a great little case - no, this device can perform magic:
  • pifco reduces wrinkles and gives you the look all women envy: youthful and healthy
  • pifco caresses your pain and strain away
  • pifco gives you your energy back
  • pifco helps against cellulites, migraine, rheumatics, sciatica and constipation

(in the English manual you can also read that it can help men who lose their hair)

it actually works fine though the rubber parts have become a bit fragile and dried out. I found this massager in the basement some years ago. It is the explanation to my youthful and healthy look, why I am full of energy and never constipated. As it says in the Swedish manual: all homes should have a Pifco (click last images to see it bigger to read the text). Besides, I love the design of the manuals.

found in the basement 2

A practical device for the tailoring housewife.

You just use this little device to blow talcum powder in a straight angle from the floor - to get an even length on your skirt. There's even some talcum left in the paper bag. I have to remember to use this device next time I'm home tailoring. Isn't the box fantastic?

found in the basement 1

Lately it's been so much me me me and my exhibit. So let's take a break from that and see what treasures you can find in the basement:

La Petite
Swedish Luxury Matches

Tiny little matchboxes with tiny little matches. But not all the original boxes are there - others have been added. And they have also that little special feeling over them.

Stay tuned for " found in the basement" part 2 - same place and time, tomorrow night.

buying art supplies

Cornérs is where I buy my art supplies. Here you buy most of your materials over counter - an old wood and glass counter with drawers - and this is where the artists who know what they are going to buy come. No material for scrap booking, papers in happy colours with real flowers in them or piles of great things you didn't know you needed ... until you saw them.

The prices are always good and things are not on offer. The walls are hang with artists self portraits from the 50's until now. But the best thing is that I know their names - and they know mine. If I have forgotten my wallet I can always pay next time. They'll just write it down.

she didn't make it

... to the exhibit. She's also a Clark Kent.

I'm just soooo tired right now. Sofa here I come!

after the opening

Thank you all who came yesterday! It looks like no one came when you see my photos - but it's hard to be the photographer at your own opening. It's easier afterwards (click on images to see bigger). Want to see what I looked like? Camilla took some photos of me.

So - this is how the t-shirts turned out. (click to see bigger) To get the chance to win one just show up at my opening tomorrow - dressed as a superhero! I will also print the superhero t-shirt on demand. If anyone is interested in buying one - just let me know. (There are more options than blue and white)

I hanged the exhibit today. Everything is ready. Welcome to my exhibition Superheroes at Galleri Kaustik!

question and answers

The Zenmaster asks his students "what is the sound of one hand clapping?" The students go away to contemplate the question for a long long time.

The first one returns. He says nothing and just holds his hand in the air. Quiet.
The second one returns. He slaps his master in the face.

Both answers are right, but there might be others too. To me this is how art should be. And I'm going for answer number 2.

repeat: juggling

Wearing clumsy mittens, juggling on a unicycle on a cord. Shaky.

Sometimes I feel I have too many things going on. Am I going to drop a ball? Here you can learn how to juggle. On ball is easy, two balls: still OK - more balls: HARD! But as I do have balls (even though I'm a girl) - I'll check what I do not NEED to do right now and not do that. Blogging might be getting a little bit less these days!

[This whole post is a repeat from March 18 last year. I have the same feeling again. A list of priorities is good to make ... but I might still be blogging this year though]

superhero t-shirt

Like always when you have a bright idea that probably won't generate any money it turns out to take much more time than anticipated. The screenprinting frame for the superhero t-shirt is finally ready and I bought the t-shirt! I'll try to print it in the weekend.

I would have loved to see Patrik Andiné's exhibit at Alingsås Konsthall

my Thursday

I was so busy working with my enamels that I got surprised seeing it had been snowing for some time. It is still snowing. But shouldn't spring come now?

putting on a mask

putting on a mask changes things. Do you ever put on a mask?

a day off

Today became like a day off. (Which was really good - I've been working too much lately.) I had a lot of errands to run - and then a coffee with Camilla in her studio. I regained that extra energy today - energy I'll need tomorrow! Tomorrow I'll be at KKV preparing the last touch on some enamels for my exhibit.

some days you feel more homey than others. Why not get inspiration from ikea hacker to construct something new ... or improve you studio: build you own screen printing exposure unit - also from ikea hacker.

a poem

some time ago I was tagged by Cecilia; to present my favorite poem. This poem was written by my father Johannes Hedberg and comes from his book of Poetry "Nostalgia". The books was published in 1992 and illustrated by me.

I Know that I Shall Never See Again

I Know that I Shall Never See Again
my childhood's rhododendron woods in bloom
Above Mussoorie, in the foothills of
Himálaya, where Kim O'Hara once
Was taught to play the Game. Nor shall I see
Again the snowy heads of Kedarnath
And Badrinath, at sunrise "windy-red
Above stark blue" Such sights, such wonderous
sights,
Although engraved for ever on my mind,
Were overlaid in time by other sights,
and half-forgotten. Now that I am old,
A child once more, I am again that boy
And see in bold relief the flowery woods
And watch the sun paint red the snow-white peaks
Of far-off mountains reaching into Heaven

(This poem was without illustration so I show you two other pages)

superhero material?

I'm looking through my sketches to find some with superhero potential. I need a new lady for the t-shirt. Could this be her?

Invitation

My invitation cards are ready! The opening isn't until the 21 of March, but I would like to invite everyone to come already now - as you can win a superhero t-shirt (printed by me of course) if you show up at the opening dressed like one! So start making your costumes. For those who are less exhibitionist: bring a child in superhero outfit!

You can of course count on me being a superhero for the occasion.

planting seeds

I bought 150 envelopes today. I'm sending papers about my workshops to libraries. I do a lot of things these days that are like planting seeds. I might get no result - or a lot. You never know.

decisions

So it's going to be "Superheroes" - plan B - for sure at my exhibition. Today I couldn't postpone the decision any longer: invitation cards have to be printed. I have more than enough material to chose in between as the gallery is small.

This is going to be the first time I'll exhibit my enamels - like the superheroes here - and the girls I made last summer will get a makeover to become super as well (I actually find them a bit boring the way they are now). Sometimes a little extra pressure can make you take decisions and advance!
