at the same time

I went to the opening of "Samtidigt" ("at the same time" or "simultaneously") a joint exhibition by Camilla Engman and Helena Roos. It was a perfect warm summery Saturday - and to enter the exhibition was like coming to another universe - dark and colorless - in the old boiler room at Konstepidemin (serving as not-at-all-white-cube-exhibition-room).

I loved the exhibition - go and see it! You have until the 2 June. Read more here and here
(sorry about the blurry photos, but I just had my iphone with me - and it was very dark)

visiting Camilla's new studio

Camilla has got a new studio at Konstepidimin - it is big, light, airy and has a lot of storage possibilities - just great in every aspect. This is the only photo I have to show from today's visit though.

a visit to Camilla's studio

Friday I paid a visit to Camilla's studio and had a coffee. She's renting this studio from artist Pecka Söderberg for a year while he's away traveling. There's a very special light and the colours of the surroundings - inside and outside - are like from one of Camilla's paintings. Like the one in the second photo; the chair has the same colour as the shadow on Camilla's hand, the background in the painting is like the yellow brick wall and the woman's dress is like the concrete floor.

my Morran interpretation

my Morran Interpretation.
I met Camilla for a coffee today and got the chance to see the book with images of Morran and flip through the pages. Illustrators/artists from all around the world have contributed with their interpretation and it's looking darn good!
Here you can get a preview and order the book.

Something else: Many Hands - a collective | online store, offering an eclectic range of prints and gifts created by a select group of leading illustrators and artists, among others my talented friend Thereza Rowe.

Camilla's wall piece

The other day I got the opportunity to see Camilla's wall piece for a school (a public commission). It's very good and very Camilla (which is the same thing), but I won't show you more than this... you will have to wait until it's mounted and Camilla has posted about it.

chez camilla

Today I got a much needed mini-break from all the ongoing projects and deadlines hanging over me; coffee with Camilla and Morran at their place. Camilla is working hard on a set of new paintings (bigger format than before!) and I got a sneak peak .. and so do you (she hasn't even posted photos of these paintings on her own blog)!

Now it is possible to order the new catalogue from the (Swedish) National Public Art Council; their Public Art projects 2009.

[anyone wondering about my Art as Business series? Unfortunately (which is actually good!) I'm far too busy right now to get the time for any serious writing. You'll have to be patient with me...]
